The lost boys micro essay

In the Lost boys scene i am analyzing mise-en-scene and sound.

The start of the scene starts with Sam running outside after his dog, wearing a light blue shirt which is tucked into his darker blue jeans, his hair also neatly done. This shows he takes time on his appearance and probably is a hard working person. Two Friends are shouting his name, his brother Michael runs over to him in a mid-shot wearing a dark jumper and dark jeans, he is casually dressed, like any normal teenager.

The scene is set in Sam an Michaels house, which has dull lighting creating the atmosphere for what is about to happen.
An  eerie Music gently picks up during this part of the scene, the music is non-diegetic. You can tell this because the music wouldn’t have usually be present in this scene, as the music builds up there is a point of view shot of the vampires flying towards Sam, Michael and the house. This sound picks up the pace for the audience and creates tension and anticipation for what will happen next. A close up of the female, Starr, shows the terror on her face as she screams ‘’Michael they’re coming’’.
Michael, Sam and the dog each run into the house. The house is dark with little light and a stuffed animal head on the wall, showing the owner of the house likes strange things.
A series of quick cuts show how each member acts as they try to block the house from the oncoming vampires .
As the vampires enter, there are a series of quick cuts create anxiety for the audience.
Two boys run into a bedroom in a mid-two shot where they find one of the many vampires. The boys, Both wearing a military outfit and vampire hunting objects, including garlic around their neck shows they  want to appear they are stronger and braver than they actually are. The vampire is wearing a long leather jacket, a white top, and dirtied white jeans showing he has been in other fights and does not care about his appearance. There is a close up on the vampires face, showing pure anger. Which leaves the audience anticipating what will happen next.
The boys lead him into a bathroom, where the bath is filled with garlic and holy water, showing the vampires were expected. The boys throw the holy water in the vampires face.
There is a close up of the vampire as he screams. Music slowly builds up as the vampire is pushed into the bath. There is a close up of him burning and an eerie smoke emitting from his body.
The vampire jolts up from the water, disfigured, and then falls into the water scraping his long dirty fingernails down the bath, reassuring the audience that the boys will be un harmed by this vampire.

Hidden Anger 200 word pitch

Hidden Anger will appeal to females aged around 15-25 due to The lead male actor and thriller Genre as there is a Crime investigation.
The film would be set in England, mainly in the countryside of Hastings, Andy and Amanda’s house being on the sea front and Andy’s mothers  house set in a woodland area in or just outside Hastings.
I have chosen Aaron Johnson to play Andy as he is a young current actor and has played deceiving parts, such a William in Chatroom  and Bonnie wright to play Amanda as she is pretty, young and has a gentle nature in Harry Potter. The main Police officer will be played by David Arquette as he is experience in playing police officers from the ‘Scream’ franchise
My film Hidden Anger  is similar to ‘Seven’ due to its thriller Genre and the ‘’Crime investigation’’ theme. Also Seven was released in  mainstream cinemas which is where I would like Hidden Anger to be Released.

Hidden Anger.

The police also discover that Andy is also behind the disappearance  and killing of his mother . They discover her body, buried in his mothers back garden. They also figure out that Andy becomes a very angry man, fuelling each of the murders he has committed.
Amanda’s Family can not believe that Andy was capable of such crimes, but are happy when they discover that Andy is to be sent to prison for life in a high security prison.
The film ends on Andy being locked up in a prison cell with two other men.
